Research focus

ITZIAR TUEROS is the head of the Food and Health department at AZTI (Spain) and researcher for the Scientific Foundation of AECC (Spanish Association Against Cancer). She has more than 15 years’ experience in the food sector. Expertise in bioactive compounds (polyphenols and lipids), lipid metabolism and nutritional clinical trials with different population groups (cancer patients, obese children, pregnant women and athletes).

Strong background in erythrocyte membrane lipidomics for precision nutrition. Her interest lies in the development of innovative strategies for the promotion of healthy and sustainable lives especially.

Expertise in the management of research projects related to food and health, currently leading several national and European projects in precision nutrition field. Start-up mentorship experience through different national and international incubator and accelerator programs.

Focus in CoDiet

She is CoDiet project coordinator. Apart from project management activities she will participate mainly in WP2 and WP5, providing expertise in targeted lipidomics for dietary assessment and NCD risk assessment, consumer studies and the application of non-invasive technologies for NCD risk assessment such as photoplethysmography and AGEs.
