CoDiet Consortium meet for 2nd Annual Meeting in Cork, Ireland
On the 20-21st February, the CoDiet consortium met in Cork, Ireland for the project’s 2nd Annual Meeting. The meeting was hosted by CoDiet partner, Teagasc, the state agency providing research, advisory and education in agriculture, horticulture, food and rural development in Ireland.
Across the two-day meeting, consortium members had the opportunity to reconnect since meeting in Bilbao twelve months earlier, reflect on progress made over the past year, and engage in discussions about the future direction of the project.
The meeting kicked off bright and early on Day 1 in the Banking Hall at the UCC Centre for Executive Education, a beautiful bright room housed in a former columned bank building in the heart of Cork. Attendees enjoyed traditional Irish scones and a few cups of tea and coffee before diving into a full day of project updates.
After a warm welcome from CoDiet Project Manager Dr. Itziar Tueros and Teagasc PI Prof. Orla O’Sullivan, most of the day was taken up with updates from Work Package (WP) leaders. Following the updates, the consortium broke for lunch, giving members a chance to reconnect over some delicious food. As Day 1 drew to a close, the group gathered for dinner at Cornstore Cork, where they group could unwind, reflect on the day’s discussions, and continue conversations over some local cuisine.

The consortium returned bright and early for Day 2 of the meeting, starting with presentations from the communication & dissemination and project coordination teams. After some obligatory coffee and biscuits, attendees took part in several interactive sessions that fostered productive cross-project collaboration.
As Day 2 drew to a close, the sun made a welcome appearance with Dr. Itziar Tueros delivering closing remarks, reflecting on the value of meeting in person and the positive, engaging conversations that had taken place over the two days.
The consortium is already eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to come together in person in a year’s time when the team from BIOMIC_AUTh will host the 3rd Annual Meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece.
